Homemade Brownie Mix

I love brownies.  To be completely honest I don’t hate any dessert.  But there is a special place in my heart for all things chocolate!

A few years ago I started trying to make more and more of the foods my family eats from scratch.  The reason originally started because of food allergies, but since then I have found I actually enjoy making a lot of the things I used to buy because I know exactly what is going in.  There was nothing more disconcerting than picking up a can of vanilla frosting at the store and reading the ingredients only to find that it contained 4 different artificial colors.  2 different shades of white and 2 different shades of yellow!  I thought to myself, ” What color was this when they started that they had to use 4 different artificial colors to get it to be white? ”  “When I make frosting at home it’s white simply because of the milk, butter, and sugar.  So what exactly are all these ingredients I can’t pronounce”, I wondered.
The one problem with cooking from scratch, I will confess, is the TIME!  Sometimes there just isn’t enough time to make everything homemade!  So I’ve begun looking for ways to make mixes in advance with whole foods that I can use to whip up something quick!  So I started with my first baked love:  Brownies!
Now I must warn you this recipe does contain some chocolate syrup!!!  I know, I know!  But after several attempts I found that I could not get the degree of chocolatiness or the texture I wanted without using a little bit!!
