Crochet Easter Basket With Decorative Edging

For Easter this year I decided to make my kid’s Easter baskets!  It took me a while to settle on a pattern.  First I made a tiny basket to get an idea of what I needed to do to make a full size Easter basket the way I wanted!

My first prototype of the Easter basket was super small

Then super big (I got over zealous!)

Then they were just right!  I felt like I was living a crochet version of Goldilocks!

I made 3 total.  All different colors and with 2 different edgings.  A leaf edge and a triangle edge!  Once I settled on a pattern these were really fast and easy to make!!!

Lets Start with the Green Easter Basket!

I made this for my son who has decided his new favorite color is green! IMG_0731 I thought the leaf edging wasn’t too girly but gave it a cuteness for Easter!

I used a G hook for the whole basket.  The Colors I used were Red Heart Spring Green and Hunter Green.

Ch 8.  Sl St into first ch to create a ring.

Round 1:

Ch 3 ( counts as your first dc). Work 15 dc into center of the ring.  After you should have a total of 16 dc.

Round 2:

Ch 3 ( counts as first dc), 2 dc into each st.  Sl St.  After you should have 32 dc.

Round 3:

Ch3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc into next st, 1 dc into the next st. *2dc, 1dc, 2dc, 1dc. Repeat all the way around. Sl St.

Round 4:

Ch3 (counts as first dc), 1dc into next st, 2 dc into next st, 1 dc into next st, 1 dc into next st, 2 dc into next st. *1dc, 1dc, 2dc.  Repeat all the way around. Sl St.

Round 5:

Ch3 (counts as first dc), 1dc into next st, 1dc into next st, 2dc into next st.  *1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 2dc. Repeat all the way around.  St St.

Round 6:

Ch3 (counts as first dc), 1 dc into next st, 1 dc into next st, 1 dc into next st, 1 dc into next st, 2 dc into next st.  *1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc,  2dc. Repeat all the way around. Sl St.

Round 1:

Begin right where you left off in the sl st from fround 11.

*Ch3, dc into 3rd ch from hook

Ch3, sc into 2nd ch from hook

into the dc space work: 1dc, 1tr, 1dc, 1sc

sc into next 5 st on basket. Then Repeat *. Sl St.

Handle

What I did for the handle was I started at one end of the basket and changed 66.  Once I reached the opposite end of the basket I connected it with a sc.  Then I dc all the way back to the opposite end connected with another sc.  And then dc all the way back to the opposite end one more time and connected it with another sc.

The Red, White, and Yellow Basket

IMG_0734

I made this basket for my youngest daughter who loves everything red and yellow!  It’s not super traditional Easter colors, but it’s what she will love.  And it’s for her after all!  This Basket uses the exact same pattern as the green with the exception being that rows rounds 1-9 are metallic red, rounds 10-11 are metallic white,

and the leaf edging and handle are bright yellow.

The Blue Basket

I made this for me daughter who loves everything Queen Elsa right now!  So I made it blue with what is supposed to be the tip of a snowflake edging.

For this pattern Rounds 1-11 are the same as above.  But the Snowflake Tips pattern is below!

For this basket I used Red Heart Light Blue and Macaw Yarn.

Begin right where you left off in the sl st from fround 11.IMG_0726

Round 1:

1sc

*ch 6, 1sc into 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc into the next ch, 1dc into next ch, 1tr into the next ch, 1dtr into the next ch.

Skip 4 stitches on basket, sc into the 5th stitch. *Repeat all the way around Basket. Sl St.

The Handle is also the same pattern as above!
